1. As the song plays the first time (During Verse 1), make remarks about how Jesus came into the world to bring us light and joy. Emphasize that His birth was foretold in the book of Isaiah, and that John the Baptist was His witness in the wilderness. It is good to speak the name of Jesus as we travel on our journey. Share the Good News with all who will listen.

2. During Verses 2 - 3 of the song, read the scripture found in the book of Isaiah 9:6 and John 1:6-18.   Let the song end.
3. When the song restarts, sing Verses 1-3 together.
4. Prayer and Meditation.

  • How Sweet the Name of Jesus #1111:43

How sweet the name of Jesus sounds
in a believer's ear!
It soothes our sorrows, heals our wounds,
and drives away our fear...
And drives away our fear.

It makes the wounded spirit whole
and calms the troubled breast;
'tis manna to the hungry soul,
and to the weary, rest...
And to the weary rest.

O Jesus, shepherd, guardian, friend,
my Prophet, Priest, and King,
my Lord, my Life, my Way, my End,
accept the praise I bring...
Accept the praise I bring.
