"The Bible is a Miracle!"

The family Bible, which sits in a prominent place on a table in the living room, was printed in 1990 by the Thomas Nelson Company. I come from a large family with fourteen children, and two parents who were blessed to raise all of their children

to adulthood before the passing of my father. As a result, the Bible belonging to my parents was passed on to an older sibling.

My current Bible was purchased in 1990. The previous Bible was replaced in 1990 for wear.

All of the Bibles in the household of my parents got a good workout. The Baptist Church of my childhood held Sunday School

at 9:00 AM, Morning Worship at 11:00 AM, Afternoon Service at 3:00 PM, Baptist Training Union at 5:00 PM and Evening Service at 6:00 PM. Bibles were required for Sunday School, Morning Service, and Baptist Training Union.
Thus, there was lots of wear and tear by 1990.

This year, as in many years past, I viewed Jesus of Nazareth. This title refers to a film presentation
of the life and passion of Jesus Christ. Our family grew up viewing King of Kings,
which was presented for family viewing on major television stations during the Lent and Easter Seasons.
Since that time there have been a number of other film presentations on the life and ministry of Jesus Christ.
I view many of them not only for Easter, but for the Christmas Season and other times throughout the year.

Something occurred to me at the conclusion of Jesus of Nazareth this year. After the final scene

with Jesus commissioning His disciples, I glanced over at the Bible on the table.

As I looked at the Bible, I thought about the fact that the entire New Testament of the Bible

started with The Great Commission.
There were just eleven people and a host of eyewitnesses.

The Bible itself is a miracle.

The strength of the eyewitness accounts must have been miraculously strong.
The testimony of the faithful undoubtedly had to withstand scrutiny, unbeliever denials, suppression, threats, and violence.
Yet, in all this, the Bible survived as the most widely-read book in the history of the world.

A close look at Bible history is a testament to the Bible's miraculous survival. Gods word needed to get to us,
right here, right now. That is why each and every individual should hold in reverence the opportunity

to open up the Word of God and read its contents.

Just think of what the Word of God had to go through to get to you, here, now, today.

Jesus lived on this earth for 33 years, over two thousand years ago. He taught in His ministry for three years,

trained His disciples to preach the Gospel, and fulfilled the scriptures through His crucifixion, death, and resurrection.
Following His final ascension into the Kingdom of Heaven the world was left with eleven disciples
(they elected Matthias to replace Judas Iscariot giving us twelve) and a host of eyewitness.

I do not discount the number of eyewitnesses here.
The miracle of the feeding of thousands happened twice. Word of the resurrection of Lazarus also spread
throughout the region. Lazarus himself was a living testimony.  I am sure that many people came
to see Lazarus for themselves. The plot to possibly put Lazarus to death serves as proof that suppression schemes

were alive and well back in those days. Jesus’ crucifixion was actually a failed suppression scheme.
Our faith can be increased with some reflection and understanding of what Jesus went through,
what the disciples went through, what the eyewitnesses went through,

and what the apostles went through to get the Good News to us today.

Actually, it was Gods plan to get this Good News to us. That is why the Bible did not and cannot fail.
The Bible did not fail because God wanted this book to be here for you and for me.

It is His gift to this generation and every generation that follows.

The rest is up to us.
