Luke 2

8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace,

good will toward men.

Worship Suggestion:
The sound file is looped.
1. Before the song begins, make remarks about the blessing the shepherds received in becoming active participants in the nativity. The angels delivered the good news and praised God in the highest, before sending the shepherds to see the Christ Child. Emphasize how the shepherds left the manger praising God and testifying to people along the way.
2. As the song plays the first time, read the scripture from the book

of Luke 2:8 - 14. Verses 1 - 3 will play throughout the reading. Let the song end.
3. As song plays the second time, sing Verses 1 - 3 together.
4. Prayer and Meditation.

The first Noel the angel did say
was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay;
in fields where they lay keeping their sheep,
on a cold winter's night that was so deep.
Refrain:
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel,
born is the King of Israel.

They looked up and saw a star
shining in the east, beyond them far;
and to the earth it gave great light,
and so it continued both day and night. (Refrain)

And by the light of that same star
three Wise Men came from country far;
to seek for a king was their intent,
and to follow the star wherever it went. (Refrain)
