Silent night, holy night,
all is calm, all is bright
round yon virgin mother and child.
Holy infant, so tender and mild,
sleep in heavenly peace,
sleep in heavenly peace.
Silent night, holy night,
shepherds quake at the sight;
glories stream from heaven afar,
heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ the Savior is born,
Christ the Savior is born!
Silent night, holy night,
Son of God, love's pure light;
radiant beams from thy holy face
with the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at thy birth,
Jesus, Lord, at thy birth.
Luke Chapter 2
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
Worship Suggestion:
The sound file is looped.
1. As the song plays the first time, make remarks about the passage of the book of Luke which tells of the message from the angels to the shepherds concerning the birth of Jesus. Think about the marvelous feeling the shepherds must have had hearing this message given to them by a chorus
of angels. The Good News was delivered in the peaceful silence of a shepherd’s field.
2. As the song plays the second time, read the scripture from the book of Luke 2:8-18. Let the song end.
3. As the song restarts, sing all verses together.
4. Prayer and meditation.
