John 14
27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. 28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I. 29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.
Worship Suggestion:
The sound file is looped.
1. As the song plays the first time, (During Verses 1-2) make remarks about finding peace in a very hectic world. Emphasize that the busy and confusing times in which we live should not prevent us from enjoying the peace of Christ in our hearts. When we center ourselves in the love of Christ Jesus, we can begin to inspire others to seek the same peace within their hearts and spirit. Share the Good News of the peace of God whenever and wherever you are able.
2. As the song continues, (During Verse 3), read the scripture from the book of John 14:1-3 and John 14:27-29. Let the song end.
3. When the song restarts sing Verses 1-3 together.
4. Prayer and Meditation.
Far away in the depths of my spirit tonight
Rolls a melody sweeter than psalm;
In celestial-like strains it unceasingly falls
O’er my soul like an infinite calm.
Refrain:
Peace! peace! wonderful peace,
Coming down from the Father above;
Sweep over my spirit forever, I pray,
In fathomless billows of love.
What a treasure I have in this wonderful peace,
Buried deep in the heart of my soul;
So secure that no power can mine it away,
While the years of eternity roll. (Refrain)
I am resting tonight in this wonderful peace,
Resting sweetly in Jesus’ control;
For I’m kept from all danger by night and by day,
And His glory is flooding my soul. (Refrain)
Wonderful Peace
