Psalm 62
5 My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.
6 He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.
7 In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
8 Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.
Worship Suggestion:
The sound file is looped.
1. As the song plays, the first time, make remarks about God's power and majesty. Introduce the scripture (Psalm 62) and emphasize that God's power and authority over the world and all of its ills, are outlined in the Old Testament and the New Testament. Jesus Christ's sacrifice secured our redemption
and placed us on the path of salvation toward eternal life.
2. As the song plays the second time read Psalm 62:5-12 along with any additional reflections of your choosing. Let the song end.
3. When the song restarts, sing Verses 1-3 together.
4. Prayer and Meditation.
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
let me hide myself in thee;
let the water and the blood,
from thy wounded side which flowed,
be of sin the double cure;
save from wrath and make me pure.
Not the labors of my hands
can fulfill thy law's commands;
could my zeal no respite know,
could my tears forever flow,
all for sin could not atone;
thou must save, and thou alone.
Nothing in my hand I bring,
simply to the cross I cling;
naked, come to thee for dress;
helpless, look to thee for grace;
foul, I to the fountain fly;
wash me, Savior, or I die.
